For Those About to Rock...

Gina Volpe used to rip it up as guitarist for the Lunachicks. Now, not only is she still dazzling crowds everywhere with her amazing guitar expertise, but she has come into her own as a lead singer/songwriter in her new group Bantam.

Bantam is of course Gina joined by Doug (bass & vocals) and Pete (drums). The word "Bantam" means small but strong and combative, (and it's a kind of rooster). Like Bantamweight boxers who are under 120 lbs, the name is a perfect metaphor for the trio and their music. Their most recent release, "Suicide Tourist", is melodic, powerful and tight - like an emotional raw force perfectly built with adrenaline and angst. Gina's vocals are as amazing as her guitar work; alternating between sinister and sexy.

The group has generated a lot of positive press with repeated mentions in The Village Voice, Time Out NY, NY Press, Venus and others. They have shared stages with the likes of High on Fire, Eagles of Death Metal, Nashville Pussy, Tribe 8 and The Butchies. They play out and around NYC frequently, so we hope you catch them live if you can. Gina says, “I wear my heart on my sleeve, and I probably look like a jerk but if I’m moved by the music then other will be as well”.
