Elaine Lachica is exceptionally talented. She
was a child prodigy who went on to study at the Peabody Conservatory
of Music and at the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles.
All the while, she listened to classical, jazz, musicals and British
and American pop music, including Bach, Cassandra Wilson, the Cocteau
Twins, Nick Drake, Radio head, and Tori Amos. Elaine’s life
experience allows her to create some fantastic music, like her
debut release 9 and her latest album Apolune.
Apolune is multi-layered
and instrumental. Elaine’s ethereal
voice caresses and seduces, floating upon a soft ocean of synthesized
sounds and loops and string/keyboard atmospherics. She has a talent
for crafted songs that display the duality of being grounded and
present, yet always on the verge of floating into abstraction with
no center to hold. Listeners who love dreamy and bewitching vocals
with loads of musical surprises should get a rush from this CD.
Elaine
gets a lot of positive press and radio airplay. She also performs
at colleges and clubs throughout the east coast like The Vault
in Baltimore, CB's 313 Gallery, The Sidewalk Café,
Acme Underground, Freddy's and Vibe in NYC. She plays live with
drummer Ryan Cavan and bassist Rich Chapple, who also recorded
drums and bass for Apolune. Catch her next live show if you can.
