Examined
Through Reflection
Jamie Henkensiefken (pronounced: hen | ken |seef
| ken) arrived in the Pacific NW in 2002. We think “the
h” is a singular, lo-fi, rock-uprising. She charmingly
refers to herself as having “music-theory-nerd song-writing
stylings” – we say her voice is a gentle frenzy and
she creates an alluring oversize presence.
Henkensiefken’s first full-length release, A familiar Assortment
of Demons and Dreams, was self-produced and released in December
2004. The 11 song collection is hypnotic + moody, sometimes haunting.
She has shared the stage with indie-girl-underground stars like The Butchies,
Ms. Led and Tracy + the Plastics. Fans of Tara Jane O’Neil and
noted influence, Shannon Wright, will be especially interested in checking
out henkensiefken’s sounds. We’re nearly certain this is
just the beginning for this diy cyclone of copious creativity.
