The H Rules!!

Released in June 2005, Henkensiefken’s sophomore effort, The Howler Tone EP, is the perfect encore.  Jamie has taken her lo-fi indie rock sensibilities to expand Henkensiefken to a three piece angular rock FORCE!

In May, Jamie connected with bassist Rob Kruy and drummer Rey Guarjardo.  Only a month later, the three recorded and released The Howler Tone EP.  (Which features cool DIY artwork on the cover!)

The EP contains 6 tracks, including two of our favorite Henkensiefken songs:  Orange Aurora Sky and Hardcore for the Housewife’s Soul.  The addition of Rob and Rey has allowed for the perfect progression of the math rock leanings of Jamie’s writing and playing.

Examined Through Reflection

Jamie Henkensiefken (pronounced: hen | ken |seef | ken) arrived in the Pacific NW in 2002. We think “the h” is a singular, lo-fi, rock-uprising. She charmingly refers to herself as having “music-theory-nerd song-writing stylings” – we say her voice is a gentle frenzy and she creates an alluring oversize presence.

Henkensiefken’s first full-length release, A familiar Assortment of Demons and Dreams, was self-produced and released in December 2004. The 11 song collection is hypnotic + moody, sometimes haunting.

She has shared the stage with indie-girl-underground stars like The Butchies, Ms. Led and Tracy + the Plastics. Fans of Tara Jane O’Neil and noted influence, Shannon Wright, will be especially interested in checking out henkensiefken’s sounds. We’re nearly certain this is just the beginning for this diy cyclone of copious creativity.
