Because
things matter
Scarling. is Jessicka (vox), Christian Hejnal (guitar,
vox), Beth Gordon (drums), Derik Snell (bass) and Rickey Lime
( guitar). They are a band at the apex of an underground swell.
Their large and growing fan base includes ‘gloomsters’, ‘fey
indie rockers’ and all varieties in between. Everyone is
talking, including The Cure's Robert Smith who said: “Scarling.
make dark, desperate, chaotic, gorgeous pop music, the sound of
the end of the world…and I love it.”.
Robert Smith handpicked
Scarling. as one of the seven acts to tour with his Curiosa Festival
in 2004. When Jessicka was asked for her thoughts about playing with
one of her long time favorite bands, she said, “The Cure has
always been one of the only bands I found worthy of surrendering
everything in exchange for nothing. They have yet to break my heart.” Listening
to The Cure (“Carnage Visors”) - their influence
on Scarling.’s music becomes apparent.
So Long, Scarecrow was released on October
25, 2005. On this album, the band takes their talent for refining
chaos into heavy pop noise to the next level. The songs on So
Long, Scarecrow are walls of sound; rife with feedback
and wistful, brutal melodies. Each track, a dissonant sonic emperiment
peirced by Jessicka's delicate and exquisite voice.
And the reviews of So Long, Scarecrow are multiplying.
Morley
Seaver says: “So Long, Scarecrow is a tremendous
record by a band that is only beginning to realize how great their
talent is.” And the rich description from Alternative Press: “Scarling.
Sounds like being French-kissed by the most beautiful beings in
the world, and then being unable to stop the bleeding. Really alluring
yet massive stuff”.
We're not surprised. We have loved Jessicka's voice
for more than half a decade!
