File Under: emo / screamo / indie / queercore

Queer-mo whiz kids who want to rock harder than your average all girl band. The East End is Jordin Silver, (vocals/guitar), Jamie Henkensiefken (guitar/vocals) Addison Markham (bass) and Shiori Takenoshita (drums).

Jordin moved to Seattle in 2004 and began playing music with Jamie. The two discovered how well each of their approaches complimented each other and thought it would be cool to start a band. So they auditioned bass players and drummers for months until at last, in January of this year, they found Shiori and Addison.

They chose wisely. The quartet are a fine group of stellar musicians. On their April 2005 release, "A Letter Detailing My Love", they create some amazing complex hard-driving arrangements while singing songs about broken hearts, killing ex-girlfriends, not fitting in, finding yourself, and love. They believe intensity is what makes life worth living and their lyrics and music certainly echo those beliefs.

The East End already has gained a strong all-ages following around Seattle. They have a vision of intertwining audiences - older and younger, straight and queer - scenester and mainstream. If their local success is any indication; we believe their vision might come true. It will be interesting to see what comes next for this raw and fearless big-hearted band; who just feels more, about everything.
